4. Season 5: “Work Hard or Die Trying, Girl”

Unsurprisingly, most of the Bob’s Burgers premiere episodes are either at the normal Bob’s Burgers quality or sometimes, even better. This is why the second half of this list was a constant toss-up as these are some of the best episodes period. Coming in at #4 is season 5’s “Work Hard or Die Trying, Girl” and what an enthusiastic way to start off season 5.

A Gene-center episode, “Work Hard or Die Trying, Girl” follows Gene as he decides to make an underground production entitled Die Hard: The Musical which is going to compete with his ex-girlfriend Courtney’s musical, Working Girl. Obviously, hijinks ensue with people preferring Gene’s play to Courtney’s. The two eventually compromise and work together to create one of the greatest musical mash-ups the show has ever featured.

“Work Hard or Die Trying, Girl” is one of those episodes that no other show could pull off by Bob’s Burgers. Somehow, they manage to combine two films that aren’t musicals and still make it work. As far as premieres go, this is one of the best and most impressive the show has done to date. The only downfall was Gene’s actions throughout the episode as it’s rare to see him exact revenge as cunning as he did. That’s more Louise’s realm but the episode pulled it all together in the end and gave us one of the best musical moments ever.
