5. Season 10: “The Ring (But Not Scary)”

If you’re wondering where season 10’s premiere would be, there was no way that it wasn’t going to be right in the middle. Since it’s the most recent episode, there was going to be a little bit of bias for my pick. Considering how the episode was, it doesn’t seem that unfair. Coming in at #5 on my list is “The Ring (But Not Scary).”

“The Ring (But Not Scary)” follows the kids find a ring that Bob got for Linda for their anniversary and instead of leaving it alone, they decide to try it on. Gene tries it on and it gets stuck before falling off while the kids are at the water park with Linda. The kids start freaking out until they recruit Nat to help them and Bob find the ring. The episode ends with the owner catching them at the waterpark but letting them have fun at the waterpark for their anniversary with the ring ending up in a nest near their house.

As the season 10 premiere, “The Ring (But Not Scary) had almost everything a quintessential Bob’s Burgers episode does. It features a throwback to an older episode including the plotline and side character returning. Additionally, it included Bob trying to do something special for Linda with the kids inevitably screwing it up as is typical for the Belchers. Unlike the other episodes on the list though, this episode wasn’t particularly funny and was a little bit more serious.

Other than that, “The Ring (But Not Scary)” was a pretty solid season premiere. It might have been as flashy as the others on the list, but it was good. It was full of heart with few laughs and sometimes, that’s the best way to start off a season. Some may disagree, but season 10 started off pretty great in my eyes.
