Thought Emergence was just going to be a mystery series? Get ready for more family drama thrown into the mix, and it will be worth it.

Emergence has been promoted as ABC’s mystery show, perfect for LOST and Manifest fans. However, there’s also a family drama element to the series. That family drama element is about to grow. Here’s just a tease of things we learned at NYCC 2019.

During the press rooms, the cast had a chance to delve into what to expect for their characters. That meant a chat with Donald Faison, Allison Tolman, Alexa Swinton, Ashley Aufderheide, and Clancy Brown. They all shared that family drama is coming.

Tolman’s Jo quickly took Swinton’s Piper under her wing in the pilot episode. And while Aufderheide’s Mia loves having a little sister around, there’s a huge concern for Faison’s Alex. After all, Piper has these special abilities and there are many people after her. In the pilot alone, they were in the basement of the house and all their lives were in danger.

While he’ll feel for Piper, he’s naturally going to be more concerned about his biological daughter, Mia. We can expect to see some tension caused between Jo and Alex because of Piper coming into the family.

Where does Clancy’s Ed come into all this? Episode 3 is going to focus on a health storyline, which brings its own family drama. Jo doesn’t really know how to be the support in her family, and that’s going to directly affect the dynamics moving forward.
