Mayans MC took a leap forward last night establishing the show’s direction. Lines have officially been drawn: Feds on one side, everyone else on the other.

While the last episode of Mayans MC displayed an unresolved motive from Adelita to be held captive, a bigger question arose regarding alliances. Potter appears to have zero friends, and his eccentricities are wearing thin on everyone. It’s only a matter of time before he meets his maker, hopefully via Coco and some red mist.

Here are five big questions as a result of last night’s Mayans MC episode.

When are EZ and Emily getting together?

More from FX

Now Emily doesn’t trust her husband enough to ask for his help. So where does she run? To the much larger, stronger, inviting arms of her ex-boyfriend. It means nothing you say? Well, what about the flashbacks she’s having of when EZ gave her the jacket off his back? She knows that prospect cut felt warm and cozy, and it’s just a matter of time before she asks Felipe to set up a rendezvous that doesn’t involve some shady business venture.

So Potter is searching for info on Felipe Reyes?

How about searching for John Smith or Robert Williams while you’re at it? Even though Ignacio Cortina was included, the decision to take a huge left turn from his current investigation makes minimal sense, only through a convoluted process of elimination. Potter thinks he has Galindo covered, and it wouldn’t make sense for Los Olvidados to leave their leader behind. So that leaves the MC or some other group in his candy-sorting mind.

On the other hand, making more sense than handing his assistant names on a sheet of paper would be a massive CSI campaign on the torture facility to pick up any sort of information about who ransacked the place and killed off his Blackwater mercs.

Nonetheless, with the mercs out of commission, it looks like Potter will be digging into some old past, and likely linking Felipe to the Galindo family. Somewhere in there is the Packer/San Bernadino SOA-backed hit on Felipe and his wife that Happy carried out.

How does Felipe Reyes stay in business?

It’s trivial, and maybe amuses only me, but he sure does close the shop on a whim. Any time someone he likes walks through the door, he flips the sign and locks up shop.

Additionally, the carniceria cupboards are always a bit bare. What else does he have going on at his shop? Please tell me there is a secret room with a gimp.

Did Nestor redeem himself?

Not only did Nestor risk his own life to trail the people who kidnapped El Padrino, but he also had the wherewithal to pay attention when he got completely blasted off the side of the road. A lesser man would have chalked it up as a loss. Or even worse, ignored the entire thing as a way to step back into his old role as Miguel Galindo’s second in charge.

Here’s to hoping we see more from Galindo’s former head of security while Marcus goes on the IR from all the torture.

What’s the blowback on the Chinese dealings?

Will Emily blame EZ for Marlon’s murder? Or, more directly, will she blame herself? It will look like a suicide, and will undoubtedly be connected to Marlon’s dealings with the Chinese, but deep down she will think she caused EZ to resort to drastic measures.

Given that the Chinese were all but ensured the winning bid, and are now almost certainly going to lose their foothold, it should be interesting to see new enemies wiggle their way into the Mayans MC wars. Convenient that Jax was mentioned in this episode because the Chinese gangs played a major role for quite some time in the Sons of Anarchy series as well.
