Riverdale is almost back to normal after their loss this summer. Senior year should be a blast if it weren’t for their newest adversary, Mr. Honey.

After the emotional and heart-tugging premiere of Riverdale, it was only right for the youngsters to start their senior year of high school with a mission to live life to the fullest. That’s what Fred Andrews would have wanted for his son and for all of Riverdale. So after a rough summer for Archie and everyone who knew Andrews, the senior year has officially started with high hopes.

Unfortunately, the flighty and aloof times of Riverdale High are going to be a thing of the past. Archie, Veronica, Jughead, and Betty find out about the new pain in the neck in town when they show up late to the very first day of class. Mr. Honey, who replaced Waldo Weatherbee as Principal, tells the tardy group right from the start that he’s going to be strict and make things as dull as dishwater.

Mr. Honey’s exact words: “Things are going to be different around here. We’ll have order. Discipline. Consequences.”

Mr. Honey’s first order of business was to turn down the student body president Cheryl Blossom’s idea to have a school dance to cheer everyone up. The idea came from her own positive experience with a dance after Jason died. Mr. Honey disagrees with the high school needing a dance citing the murders during Halloween the previous year.

But this is spoiled brat Cheryl Blossom that Mr. Honey was talking to, and she doesn’t know the meaning of the word “no.” So the party is rerouted to the Blossom household, where the money is plenty, and they can afford to accommodate all of Riverdale High for a good time. Mr. Honey proves to be a worthy opponent for Cheryl because he calls the cops over the noise disturbance at this party and has the whole show shut down.

The party wasn’t even anywhere near school grounds, which means that Mr. Honey is petty and drunk with power. He seems to be the type that wants things his way or no way at all. This might prove difficult for the Archie gang since they all have the habit of running off to solve murders or investigate suspects. Mr. Honey will likely be a snoop this season, heavily breathing down everyone’s neck.

Cheryl did let her position in all of this be known. He may be Mr. Honey, but she’s the Queen Bee. (I didn’t make this up, she says something like that to him.) Later, Mr. Honey discovers a beehive on his desk with bees a buzzing. A clear declaration of war from the red bombshell.

What’s troubling is the mystery behind Mr. Honey. This man who seemingly dropped out of the sky, has his mind made up about Riverdale High and acts like he has everyone figured out. So far, we have very little to go off of since we know nothing about his past.

Maybe Mr. Honey is just a weirdo with control issues that runs a tight ship. Is Mr. Honey a bug because he’s a control freak or does he have other motives? Is he another Big Bad come to wreak havoc on Riverdale?

We’ll have to get acquainted with Mr. Honey some more during the season before we’ll know what he’s after and why he’s eagerly bothering his students.
