Charlie’s Angels: 5 things we learned watching the movie
By Sandy C.
Charlie’s Angels is now playing in theaters and it features many teachable moments. Spoilers ahead if haven’t seen the movie!
Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, and Ella Balinska star in the new Charlie’s Angels reboot. Our new angels are fighting crime and looking fabulous as they do so! After watching the action-comedy, I have to admit it was a fun surprise. As much as I love the cast, which also includes Elizabeth Banks and Patrick Stewart, I didn’t think I would enjoy the movie as much as I did.
Though I still don’t believe this movie is anywhere near as brilliant as the original Charlie’s Angels, the modern take is actually a lot of fun. The empowering message is heard and seen loud and clear without coming off as preachy or overbearing. It’s also obvious the cast is having a blast playing their characters, particularly Kristen Stewart, who is a stand-out in this movie. More on KStew later!
I do wish the original cast would have made a cameo (the photoshopped images don’t count), but I suppose one can’t have it all! There’s always a chance we’ll see them in another sequel, if there’s a follow-up.

Here are five things we learned from Charlie’s Angels:
7 seconds: It takes men seven seconds longer than women to realize they are in a dangerous situation. Whether this is true of not, I believe it! Women have a sharper intuition and are able to react faster. Keep up, men.

Kristen Stewart: She is hilarious and plays the role of a funny gal pretty well! There’s always a ditzy Angel in the Charlie’s Angels movies, and I was surprised to see Stewart was given this role. It’s not that I didn’t think she was funny, she’s proven several times that she knows how to have fun in Saturday Night Live, but I was still impressed.
The twist: The movie easily leads viewers to believe that Bosley (Banks) is the villain, when it’s actually the Angel’s former Bosley (Patrick Stewart). In the movie, Banks’ character points out how easy it is to believe she could have been the bad guy, but everyone is so shocked to discover it’s actually her former boss — shining light on the Believe Women movement.

Charlie’s identity: Charlie may sound like a man, but it turns out the voice is fake. Charlie is actually a woman. I always suspected this, even in the older movies. Will we ever learn who Charlie is? That’s the big question.
Ronda Rousey: Rousey is an Angel! Charlie’s Angels includes many cameos from influential women. Others include Danica Patrick and Laverne Cox. We’d love to see more appearances in the next movie! Who do you think they should include?
