9. The Fades (2011)

Original Release: September 21 – October 26, 2011

Ratings: BBC America’s series, The Fades, performed better with critics than in the ratings. However, the UK rating system is a little different than America’s. Overall, the show averaged about 680,000 viewers.

Critical Acclaim: Critics loved The Fades. It even won a BAFTA for Best Drama Series in 2012.

About the Role: Fades are spirits that have not yet moved on from the realm of the living. People who can see the Fades are known as Angelics. Dormer’s character, Sarah Etches, is a Fade. While she was alive, she was an Angelic.

Simply the Best: If you’re a fan of supernatural television or paranormal storytelling, then you should watch The Fades. Dormer’s role is a minor but integral one. She is the former wife of history teacher Mark. Mark is the history teacher of the main character, Paul. Together, all of these characters are impacted by the impending apocalyptic event.

Sarah serves as the starting point for Paul to understand his abilities. Despite not having a lot to do in the short series, Dormer is still memorably in her role. It was a notable starting place for her career as the actress has since gone on to do bigger and better things.
