The year 2019 was filled with tons of memorable films. As the year concludes, let’s look at some of the best comedy movies released over the past twelve months.

As 2019 concludes, it will wrap up a year full of some notable films. As with many years, there were some funny comedy films released for audiences to enjoy. Though there wasn’t necessarily a sequel to a major comedy film series, there were other original, witty flicks released that are certainly watchable. After all, it’s always nice to enjoy an original comedy.

If you are wondering exactly how many comedy films were even released this year, the answer is not that many compared to previous years. But it’s all about quality, and not quantity. There were certainly some great ones in the group of comedy films that were released. Some include prominent actors and actresses who starred in some of the best wide-release comedy films of this year, a few who may be among your favorite.

That said, let’s look at some of the most watch-worthy comedy films of 2019:

5. Booksmart

Best friends and graduating high school seniors Amy (Kaitlyn Dever) and Molly (Beanie Feldstein) are what you would call “booksmart,” which are people who focuse on academics and achieving stellar results over anything else. There’s nothing wrong with focusing on the future and building strong credentials to get into a top college.

After realizing that other students have enjoyed and partied through their four years of high school while setting themselves up to attend a decent college, the two close friends admit they missed out on the social gratification that comes along with high school.

With a popular kid named Nick (Mason Gooding) scheduled to host a graduation bash, the duo decides to stuff four years of fun into one party. The problem is, they don’t know the address of the party. Now, the real adventure begins as the two girls scramble to reach the shindig before they miss out on all their high school fun!

Along the way, the two friends deal with a yacht party, their teacher, and dying phones all while trying to get an A in their last adventure before high school ends! This film also stars Skyler Gisondo, Lisa Kudrow, Jason Sudeikis, Billie Lourd, Will Forte, and Molly Gordon.
