9. Road to Paloma (2014)

Original Release Date: July 11, 2014

Box Office: Road to Paloma was a relatively small independent film so it didn’t get a traditional theatrical run. It still managed to beat its budget of $600,000 however, although it didn’t crack $1 million.

Critical Acclaim: Critics were not in love with Momoa’s directorial debut. Audiences weren’t crazy about either. That said, it’s still a pretty good movie although the main draw is probably Momoa’s good looks.

About the Role: Jason Momoa wrote, directed, and starred in this film. That’s not an easy task to pull off and he should be commended for giving it his best effort. He plays Wolf, a Native American who murdered the man who assaulted his mother. Afterward, he is forced to go on the run.

Simply the Best: If you like road trip movies, watching Jason Momoa riding a motorcycle, and films about brotherhood and friendship, then you should give Road to Paloma a shot.

It’s not the best out of Momoa’s body of work but seeing how much energy and time he committed to this project, it’s worth watching just to support him, especially if you consider yourself a big fan of the actor’s. It’s also nice to see him acting opposite his real-life wife, Lisa Bonet, who also stars in the film.
