6. The Owl House

The first animated show to make my list is one that has already premiered. As early as it is in the year, Disney already has a new show out. Airing on Disney Channel, The Owl House seems like it’s the same vein as Gravity Falls and Star vs the Forces of Evil. Since the series already premiered on January 10th, it’s already been renewed for a second season by the network so that’s a good sign.

No surprise that IMDb already has a synopsis for it:

"“A teenager finds herself stuck in the Demon Realm and battles the forces of evil alongside a rebellious witch and a pint-sized warrior.”"

Looking at the picture above, the show has a similar art style to She-Ra and the Princesses of Power and a somewhat similar vibe. It feels like the show is going to be more action-based with a sprinkle of comedy every once in a while. Somehow, Disney always has a knack for picking shows that have a fantastical element but yet doesn’t go over their audience’s heads.

The Owl House feels like it’s going to be another smash hit for the network. Considering how much they’re investing in Disney+, it’s nice to see that shows like The Owl House are being aired on the network. As far as kids shows go, this seems like one that has the most crossover appeal for both younger and older adult viewers. The Owl House might be flying under the radar for now but no doubt it’s going to be one of Disney’s most talked-about shows this year.
