From the very beginning, we knew that Castro was up to something. There was always something about her and she tried everything to get Sharpe out of the way. Well, now it’s time to see her taken down in New Amsterdam Season 2, Episode 16.
I will give the series writers one thing. This is how you play a villain. Unlike The Resident with the Red Rock storyline, the show hasn’t pushed Castro as the villain. We’ve not seen her all that much causing problems, just popping up in the odd episodes to remind us that she’s up to something. Everything she’s done has been behind closed doors, and it makes us feel like we’re Sharpe, Max, and the others as we learn what she’s really been up to.

We’ve watched her fight for co-chair, take down Sharpe, and cause a few problems here and there, but nothing to bug us too much. It’s made the villain storyline interesting and fresh.
Of course, we love to see the villain taken down. Sharpe has found out Castro is falsifying data. That could take the entire hospital down, which isn’t something Max will take lightly. Between the two women, of course Max is going to trust Sharpe. While Castro helped him go into remission, Sharpe was the one that started it all. She’s the one that has been there every step of the way.
