Nerdist and Dante Basco hosted a Twitter party while watching Hook. Basco took the opportunity to share some of the more obscure Hook behind the scenes details.

One of the good things about staying home is rewatching classics like the celebrated Steven Spielberg masterpiece Hook. Nerdist and Dante Basco, who plays Rufio leader of the Lost Boys in the film, joined thousands of fans everywhere to rewatch the 90s hit Hook in a Twitter party. While fans reminisced on their nostalgic connections to the film, Basco provided commentary on what really happened behind the scenes.

Hook boasted a star-studded cast, including Robin Williams, Julia Roberts, Dustin Hoffman, and more. The film could be considered the final chapter in Peter Pan’s life in which he leaves Neverland to marry and have a family in the real world, forgetting Neverland entirely.

As a fully-grown adult, Pan is a lawyer that has allowed capitalism to consume him, putting his career before his children. Life comes at him fast when Captain Hook kidnaps Pan’s kids forcing him to return to Neverland and face the imaginative world he left behind.

So, take a trip down memory lane as we’ve put together all of the Hook details Basco shared on Twitter.

1. Basco revealed that Dustin Hoffman voiced the pilot speaking through the overhead speaker in Peter’s flight to England.

2. The book Wendy reads to Peter’s children was actually Basco’s wrap present from Robin Williams. It is a copy of Leaves of Grass. Basco had told Williams that he loved the movie Dead Poets Society which makes repeated references to a poem in Walt Whitman’s Leaves of Grass.

3. Basco went to set to see the detective investigating Peter’s children’s disappearance because he was played by the megastar Phil Collins.

4. Julia Roberts got to play Tinkerbell in a rarely talked about life-sized Doll House.

5. The Couple kissing near Big Ben that gets dusted with fairy dust was none other than Carrie Fisher and George Lucas. What an unexpected Star Wars Easter Egg!

6. The Jolly Roger was a massive pirate ship on a Sony sound stage.

7. Glenn Close played a strapping silver bearded pirate.

8. A highlight of Basco’s teenage years was that the red-headed mermaid from Neverland’s waters kissed him during the premiere of the movie.

9. Basco was 15 years old when he filmed Hook.

10. Peter’s first fight with Rufio was filmed backward.

11. Basco trained for months before and during filming so that all of his sword-fighting scenes were really him.

12. A fan asked if Basco got to play baseball during downtime because of the pirate baseball scene. Basco claimed that they played basketball and got to play with Jaleel White of Urkel fame because Family Matters was filming next door.

13. Gwyneth Paltrow plays young Wendy, and Basco and friends had a massive crush on young Paltrow.

14. Basco’s most embarrassing moment was when Peter cut his pants so that they dropped, revealing his red tights.

15. On the other hand, Basco’s favorite moment is after Peter Pan finds himself. Rufio hands over the golden sword and says, “You are the Pan.”

16. A fan asked Basco if he had kept any souvenirs; his response was a current selfie of Basco holding Peter Pan’s golden sword.

17. Basco also kept and framed the first concept sketch of Rufio’s armor.

18. Basco felt that the highlight of his career was sword-fighting with Dustin Hoffman.

19. Many fans have told Basco that their first traumatic childhood memory was Rufio’s death in Hook.

20. When Peter Pan decides to leave his sword with a new Lost Boys leader, none of the child actors knew who he was going to pick so that the surprise would be genuine.
