5 big moments from the Supergirl Season 5 finale
Like many shows, Supergirl had to end it’s season early, but the Season 5 finale still gives us plenty of big moments to hold us over.
Supergirl may have ended its season early, but the finale still carries as many epic fights and moments as any planned finale. Hopefully, we will get to see what production had originally planned for the final few episodes they couldn’t film when the show returns for season 6, but for now the season 5 finale gives us a lot to think about until next season.
Let’s break down the five biggest moments from the Season 5 finale of Supergirl.
Alex Becomes A Vigilante
This season, Alex has been adjusting to life outside of the DEO. And, in the previous episode, Kelly suggested that if she’s going to become a vigilante, then she might as well go all the way. It seems Alex took that advice to heart because the finale revealed Alex’s very cool new vigilante costume that J’onn created for her.

Its reveal even got some major squeals from Kara, and Alex got to show off the new super suit in a major battle with Leviathan. The only question is why she’s not also wearing a mask with her new suit since she’s going to be a vigilante, but I’ll let it slide cause she looks amazing. Now we just need to get her a vigilante codename!
Brainy Sacrifices His Life To Stop Leviathan
Brainy’s days of working under Lex have come to an end. After Lex demands that Brainy allow Leviathan to take out Supergirl and her friends before they try to defeat them Brainy takes matters into his own hands. He decides to shrink the troublesome gods the same way his people used to shrink other planets.
The only problem is that sneaking onto the ship to enact his plan means that the ships’ protective defenses will kill him. By the end of the episode, we leave Brainy with his life hanging in the balance as Dreamer has a vision about his precarious situation.
Lex And Lillian Have A Plan
Lex, being Lex, saw Brainy’s double cross coming. Since Lex was given a pin that allows him to safely enter Leviathan’s ship, he approaches just as Brainy’s life is fading away and confronts him. After telling Brainy that he knew Brainy would defy him he takes the shrunken gods and leaves. He takes them to none other than this mother Lillian Luthor.
Whatever the two Luthor’s have planned can’t be good and is sure to cause big problems for Supergirl and her friends next season. We are in for some major Luthor drama.

Kara Stops Obsidian North’s Launch
Gamemnae planned to use Obsidian North’s VR lenses to tempt the whole world into a virtual reality party at the same time. With everyone in the VR world, she would be able to take out nearly all of humanity at once.
Kara is called upon to once again to give one of her famous speeches of hope as she speaks to all of the people using the lenses. Kara’s speech of hope and pain and forgiveness works its magic and everyone willingly takes out their lenses and leaves the VR world, thus saving the day.
Kara And Lena Make Amends
Now that Lena realized the error of her ways, she’s doing everything she can to make up for her previous actions. She’s committed to helping stop her brother and Leviathan, and she even builds Supergirl a kryptonite protection suit like she did in the world before Crisis on Infinite Earths.
Kara is willing to let Lena help them, but she isn’t very receptive to her apologies at first. However, after Lena continues to support and come through for her, Kara realizes it’s time to forgive Lena and move past this. Kara apologizes for keeping her identity a secret for so long, Lena apologizes that she couldn’t see that Kara was only trying to protect her. With Lex and Lillian teaming up, Supergirl will need all the allies she can get.
