If you thought winter was bad where you are, wait until you see the start of winter season on Bering Sea Gold. Kris Kelly gets candid with his thoughts on ice mining in an exclusive sneak peek, thanks to our friends at Discovery.

Winter gets cold where I live. We can hit -40 (it’s so low it’s when Celsius and Fahrenheit are at the same levels!) just outside of Toronto with the wind chill, but at least we get inside to stay warm. Those searching for gold on the bed of the Bering Sea don’t get that.

Captain Kris Kelly clearly doesn’t like the winter months. In fact, during the sneak peek of the episode, he shares that he doesn’t see the point in it. Is it really worth the money?

The sneak peek is Kris’s “secret” guide to mining, and it all starts with the differences between summer and winter. In a nutshell, summer is good, winter is bad. With how cold I feel just normally, I can see that.

Even the warm water given to the divers isn’t going to help all that much. Hopefully, Steve Riedel won’t take down the temperatures again in an effort to make the divers work harder.

Kris is so funny with his candid approach in the clip. He’s always a joy to watch when it comes to Bering Sea Gold. If you’re looking at getting friends into the series, just show them this clip and they’ll see why Kris is definitely a major reason to watch.

While the teams enter winter season, there is certainly going to be plenty thrown their way. Kris makes it seem like all fun and games, but this is the unpredictable season at the best of times. The ice is at its thinnest this year, which makes it even worse.
