8. Santa Clarita Diet

Speaking of underrated shows, Santa Clarita Diet is definitely one of them. This series was funny, heartwarming, and took us away from the stereotypes of zombies. We had a chance to see a husband and wife supporting (and even killing for) each other.

The dark comedy is one of those shows that just didn’t get enough promotion. I’ll admit that I missed the first season dropping. I found out about it just before the release of the second season, and that’s only because someone at Hidden Remote was writing about it!

The cliffhanger ending will now never be resolved. We may still be a little bitter about that.

7. Marvel’s Luke Cage

How many gritty TV superhero dramas with a Black lead are actually out there? Black Lightning will definitely come to mind, but there aren’t that many. Luke Cage was important for this, and yet it was unceremoniously canceled after two seasons.

It wasn’t just diverse and supportive, but it was also well-written and brilliantly acted. We could connect to the characters and feel on the edge for them when they went into a battle. There needs to be more episodes.

What makes matters worse is that the cancellation was likely linked to Disney buying Marvel. We’d hoped it would mean Luke Cage would be saved for Disney Plus, but that’s not happened yet. Will it ever happen?
