The pieces of the puzzle are starting to come together in Lovecraft Country, or are they actually falling apart? We have a good understanding of Tic, Leti, and Montrose’s mission. However, where do Ruby and Hippolyta stand in this madness? By the looks of the next episode’s preview, both women are set to enter the story in a huge way.
In the fourth episode, Tic, Leti, and Montrose became treasure hunters who were in search of the missing pages to the Book of Names. Their journey led them to a museum in Boston, the rumored location for Titus Braithwhite’s vault, which contains the missing pages. It turns out that the vault was located under the museum in a series of tunnels and secret passages. The episode felt like a cross between Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Goonies.

Avoiding death and catastrophe, the three heroes met Yahima, a two-spirit sorceress who once served as a translator for Titus and the Book of Names. Her refusal to translate led to Titus slaughtering her people, cursing her to his vault, and using his magic to make her a siren if she ever spoke again. Tic, Leti, Montrose, and Yahima escape the vault with the pages and eventually make it back to Chicago. However, in a deadly twist, Montrose slits Yahima’s throat to close the episode.
Lovecraft Country Season 1, Episode 5 details
As previously stated, Tic and Leti’s mission is self-explanatory. They want to retrieve the pages in order to protect themselves from Christina Braithwhite and the Sons of Adam. However, the fourth episode provided hints as to what’s next for Ruby and Hippolyta.
After being passed over for a job in a predominately white department store, Ruby seeks comfort from William, who’s in town with Christina. The evil William makes a suspicious deal with Ruby that can change her life.
For Hippolyta, she found George’s atlas in the car, where Devon County was circled. She abruptly turned the car around on her way home and it appears she’s heading to Ardham.
Will Ruby take the deal? Will Hippolyta find her answers? Expect more information on these journies in the fifth episode.
