There are some familiar faces we’d like to see again in Supergirl Season 6

It’s official; the upcoming season of Supergirl will be its final season. The show will come to a close with its upcoming sixth season on the CW which is expected to consist of 20 episodes.

The sixth season had already been pushed to midseason due to the coronavirus and star Melissa Benoist’s pregnancy. According to Deadline the decision to end the show was the choice of the producers, the studio, the network, and Melissa Benoist resulting from both the delays due to the virus and a downward ratings trajectory.

6 Characters we definitely need to see in the final season

As with the ending of any beloved show, everyone has opinions on what they want to happen before the end. There are definitely some familiar faces we’d like to return before the end, if only so that we can see them one final time.

Winn Schott

Winn started out as Kara’s best friend and our favorite Computer Lad. Despite his past, he had a big heart and was always ready with a funny quip. Eventually, his path led him to the future to join the Legion of Super-Heroes where he reclaimed the name Toyman and became a hero.

The last we saw of him he had returned to stop an evil version of himself and revealed that he was happily married with a family. As one of the original cast members and someone very dear to Kara, Alex, and J’onn I can’t imagine the show ending without seeing Winn one final time. Plus, we need to learn more about his life in the future!

Cat Grant

More from CW

In the beginning, Cat was Kara’s tough as nails boss but over time we saw that she really was a mentor to Kara. She often delivered much-needed wisdom and sage advice and was a voice of reason. We know that she knows Kara is Supergirl and while Kara is a full-fledged reporter in her own right it would still be nice to see Cat Grant one final time, so she can see how far Kara has come. And of course, offer her unique brand of wisdom.

Mon-El

Kara and Mon-El had a sweet romance where Kara finally felt like she could be all of herself with someone without holding back. Unfortunately, that was cut short after she had to send Mon-El away from Earth to protect him from lead poisoning.

When he returned, years had passed for him and he had obligations to the future that he could not ignore. He had become the hero Kara knew he could be so he returned to the future he had promised to protect, but not before giving Kara a Legion ring in case she ever needed him.

We briefly saw his return in the show’s 100th episode and it was clear Kara still cared for him and valued his advice. Mon-El was a character who brought some fun and humor into the show and considering how much he meant to Kara I think it’s absolutely necessary to bring him back again in the final season. He would bring both a dose of humor and emotion that is always needed.

Samantha Arias

Sam Arias was a friend and coworker of Lena’s and she went through a lot in her time on  Supergirl. She was overtaken by the world killer, Reign, and all she wanted to do was protect her daughter. Eventually, Reign was subdued and defeated, and Sam and her daughter, Ruby, left town to live their lives.

While I’m glad that she and her daughter are out in the world living their best lives, Sam is one of the few friends of Lena’s we’ve met. She also developed a bond with Alex, so it would be nice to see her back and see how she’s doing.

Clark Kent

I know, I know, I can hear people yelling at me already that Clark will be getting his own show soon so he doesn’t need to come back to Supergirl. I get that, but I’m also a sucker for familial relations. Clark is one of Kara’s few remaining Kryptonian relatives and one of the only ones she can actually easily access. So one final epic reunion of the super cousins is much needed. Of course, Melissa Benoist guest-starring on the new Superman & Lois show would be acceptable as well.

James Olsen

James Olsen was a character that the show didn’t always know what to do with. He started out as Kara’s love interest, then they decided they were better off as friends and he became Lena’s love interest. Mixed in with all that was a plot of him trying to become the superhero Guardian that never quite got the development it needed.

In the end, he decided to give up being Guardian and to buy a newspaper in his old hometown and use that to help people. As one of the original cast members, it would be fitting to give him a final farewell and to see where his path has led him. Here’s hoping he’s happy and fulfilled.
