Anyone who’s watched all episodes of Gavin and Stacey have been desperate for the British comedy show to return. Fans will know that the series was co-written by James Corden and Ruth Jones, who also appear in the show. Mathew Horne and Joanna Page portray the titular characters, respectively.

Gavin and Stacey ran from 2007 to 2010 with three series, and it fortunately returned last Christmas for a holiday special. Fans were upset to hear that there wouldn’t be another special this wintertime, however there have been various teases about the show coming back at some point in the future.

Now, Corden is speaking out on the possibility of revisiting the show, and he’s brought some pretty hopeful news, along with equally as bad of news. Ready to hear it?

As reported by Digital Spy, the 42-year-old Emmy Award winner recently chatted with Metro, where he spoke about returning to Gavin and Stacey. When asked about filming a new special, Corden seemed unsure but hopeful, stating:

"I don’t know, is the answer. I honestly don’t. I hope so much we do it."

If one of the writers of the show is down for another episode, why can’t it happen, right? Well, Corden also casted doubt on the future of the show in general, adding:

"The next one will really be the last, final part. And that is a little too much pressure for my chest to take at the moment, if I’m honest, in amongst the anxiety of 2020. If I had any notion of trying to make another Christmas special I don’t think I’d be able to breathe. So we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it. But I promise you, we won’t lead you over that bridge unless we think it will be worth the journey."

Hm. Not the news we wanted to hear, but at least we might be getting a new episode at some point.

As noted by Digital Spy, Jones has also spoken about Gavin and Stacey making a comeback once again, shutting down the idea that the show would have a holiday special this year.

Like we previously reported, however, we haven’t gotten a hard “no” from anyone yet about the show continuing. It looks like we might get another special or an episode out of Gavin and Stacey, but don’t count on it coming back for a full series.
