2. Both men felt betrayed by those they cared about

Unfortunately, there’d be no Qui-Gon Jinn to save him, and he too had to “settle” for an Obi-Wan-like figure upon stepping into LaRusso Auto Group at the age of 16, looking for a job under Daniel LaRusso, a ploy to get revenge on Johnny. Daniel, realizing that Robby was a troubled youth who had no positive influences to guide him, quickly took him under his wing much like Obi-Wan took Anakin under his.

Like Obi-Wan, he made mistakes, pitting the students of Miyagi-Do against the students of Cobra Kai. This feud would lead to an epic karate showdown in the halls of West Valley High School.

Unfortunately, the showdown’s finale had an unfortunate conclusion when Robby threw Miguel over the top of the school’s stairwell banister, an incident that landed Miguel in a coma and sent Robby on the run. After Daniel tracked him down, Robby got taken into custody and sent to a juvenile detention center.

While in the detention center, Robby stewed in his feelings, feeling betrayed by Daniel. Johnny would take this opportunity to extend an olive branch, but after Johnny failed to visit him one day, he too drew Robby’s ire. Although Robby told both men to stay away from him upon his release, he returned to the Miyagi-Do dojo to see Sam.
