As fans of Gordon Ramsay know, this celebrity chef is not one to usually enjoy downtime. Between his shows throughout the years, including Kitchen Nightmares, Hell’s Kitchen, Master Chef, and Hotel Hell, among others, the 54-year-old professional cook usually has his hands full with various projects at a time. Not to mention, he owns multiple restaurants across England, the United States, Italy, and other prime locations. On top of his business ventures, Gordon Ramsay is also a father of five. Needless to say, he’s a busy guy.

And if you’ve ever seen Ramsay, you’ll know that he’s also in great physical shape. It would appear he keeps his life balanced in all aspects, but a recent report claims he’s going to have to pump the brakes a bit when it comes to his fitness regime and overall physical activity. As Hello Magazine reports, he revealed to The Sun recently that he had surgery after falling during a run.

Gordon Ramsay recalled:

"I’ve just come off two weeks on crutches as I had meniscus surgery. I did it running up that hill in Richmond Park, bolting up it. And when I got the x-rays back, the doctor said, ‘You’ve got arthritis in your knee’. I’d never heard that word in relation to me before."

The BAFTA Award winner revealed he was told he has arthritis in his knee, and that he should consider going at life at a slower pace. He continued explaining:

"He told me I needed to start slowing down. It was a case of ‘imagine you’ve got 1.5million steps to run over the next 30 years… pace yourself.’"

Gordon and his wife Tana gave birth to their youngest child, a boy named Oscar, in 2019. With a little one in the house, I’d imagine slowing down isn’t exactly an option for either parents, but with the arthritis diagnosis, Gordon is going to have to slow down a bit, at least with his fitness schedule.

“I am slightly scared of stopping but do know I will have to slow down at some stage,” Gordon Ramsay also shared.

The famed chef is certainly very healthy for his age, but we’re glad to hear he’s taking advice from the professionals. Slowing down just a tiny bit surely won’t decrease his productivity or success!
