10 shows turning 10 in 2021: Hart of Dixie

10th Anniversary: Sept. 26

Starring: Rachel Bilson, Jaime King, Cress Williams, Wilson Bethel, Scott Porter, Tim Matheson, Kaitlyn Black

Legacy: Before Netflix re-popularized feel-good romantic dramedies with original hits like Sweet Magnolias and Virgin River, The CW took a trip down South in 2011 for Hart of Dixie, a series that harkens back to its humble beginnings as the legendary network known as The WB. The deeply underrated comedy-drama provided a comfort zone on TV that we will always miss.

Rachel Bilson headlines Hart of Dixie as Zoe Hart, a cardiothoracic surgeon whose future plans turn sideways when she loses out on her dream job in New York City. Instead, she heads to Bluebell, Alabama, where she joins the family practice she inherits following the death of the birth father she never knew. She struggles to settle into her new home and immediately finds herself in the center of bad boy Wade Kinsella (Wilson Bethel) and golden boy George Tucker (Scott Porter).

During its four-season run on The CW, Hart of Dixie was something of the odd one out amid the growing slate of superheroes and genre-leaning fare. But as time flies by (10 years, that is), its core fanbase cherishes the series for its heartwarming comforts, and new fans have made the move to Bluebell with Zoe. We’d say they don’t make them like this anymore, but they do, and it’s time to give Hart of Dixie its flowers (magnolias, obviously). Long live the Hart!

Where to watch: Hart of Dixie is available to stream on IMDb TV.
