Lovecraft Country season 2 release date updates: Will there be a new season? When is it coming out?

Emmy nominations were finally announced yesterday, and among the many shows nominated was none other than the HBO original series Lovecraft Country.

The show’s talented stars Jurnee Smollett and Jonathan Majors solidified nominations in their respective categories which is a testament to how great the series really is–not to mention the fact that the show has also been considered for the highly sought-after Outstanding Drama Series award.

Despite all the critical acclaim that the show has received, fans are still left in limbo as they wait for some good news surrounding Lovecraft Country‘s second season, but will they wait in vain or will they receive great news in the future? How many seasons of Lovecraft Country are there?

There is currently only one season of Lovecraft Country available to watch on HBO Max. There are a total of 10 episodes in the pilot season with each episode being about an hour in duration.

Is there going to be a season 2 of Lovecraft Country?

Unfortunately, there will not be a second season of the HBO original as it was suddenly canceled by the television network earlier this month. Fans were certainly confused by the lack of renewal, wondering just why such a popular, unique series wouldn’t be returning.

Distractify was able to shed a bit of an insight into the cancellation, citing the show’s original plan for the reason. Apparently, Lovecraft Country was ordered as a limited series by the television network and wasn’t supposed to continue past season 1. However, the show’s creator Misha Green shared a post on her Twitter that suggested otherwise.

Plenty of new characters, plenty of new episodes, and most importantly, plenty of new seasons were all in the works, which makes the cancellation news that much sadder. Hopefully, things will turn around for the show, but, as for now, it looks like it’s time to say goodbye.

How many episodes of Lovecraft Country season 2 are there?

As we see in the picture above, it looks like there were going to be another 10 episodes in the second season of the show. While we don’t have episode names, with this show’s history, it’s safe to assume that they would’ve been epic.

With the series not returning, it doesn’t look like filming will commence any time soon.
