July is coming to an end this weekend so we’re here to give you the last July releases that need to be going into your watch list. July has been a big month for both shows and movies and the latest group tries to keep that trend rolling. This week, we’re giving you six of the latest Netflix movies and shows to look out for this weekend July 30 – Aug 1.

This week has a good mix of reality, movies, and original content so there should be something for almost every type of Netflix viewer. As we’ve mentioned in the past, reality shows are doing very well on Netflix. Last week, we told you about Sexy Beasts, and this week we are introducing you to a show that might be even more insane.

Speaking of last week, the movie Blood Red Sky remains as high as the top three on Netflix going into this weekend with The Last Letter from your Lover still holding onto the 10th spot at the time of this writing. Though movie theaters are open and we’re getting a lot of big releases back-to-back, Netflix movies are still doing very well.

Now let’s get into what’s new.

New Netflix movies and shows this week

  • How to Sell Drugs Online (Fast): Season 3, July 27
  • Love is Blind: After the Altar: Season 1, July 28
  • Resort to Love (movie), July 29
  • The Last Mercenary (movie), July 30
  • Outer Banks: Season 2, July 30
  • Centaurworld: Season 1, July 30

Best show this week on Netflix

As promised, we have to talk about another insane reality show on Netflix. Love is Blind took Netflix by storm two years ago as a group of single men and women got to know each other through a wall and had to decide if they wanted to get engaged before ever seeing each other. The social experiment certainly had its highs and its lows but the drama had the show trending on Netflix and social media.

After the Altar brings back our players 2 years later to see how everyone is doing. There is a mixed bag between those who are still just as in love as they were when we left off and those who have had their relationships fall apart.

As you can see from the trailer above, the three-part follow-up is not without drama and that’s likely why it is currently the number two among Netflix shows. If you didn’t watch the series originally, the whole affair from start to finish is only 14 episodes so it’s not a bad time to start your binge.

Best movie this week on Netflix

The options for movies this week are somewhat thin but we do have an action movie and a romance film. For the best this week we are leaning into the romance with Resort to Love. The movie features Christina Milian (in her second Netflix romantic comedy that takes place in a hotel after Falling Inn Love) and former SNL cast member, Jay Pharoah. The movie is brought to Netflix by the same studio that made Falling Inn Love so if you watched that movie you likely have some idea as to what to expect.

In this film, Milian’s character is a musical artist in the midst of a career meltdown. She reluctantly accepts a gig performing at a luxury island resort, only to find out that she is going to be the entertainment for her ex-fiance’s wedding.

The movie takes a lot of twists and turns between Milian’s character figuring out if she’s over her ex and potentially finding new love. There are a few ways this movie can play out so you’ll have to tune in to find out. This does look like a textbook romantic comedy so if that’s your genre, you should definitely add this one to your list.
