5 new Netflix movies and shows to watch this weekend: July 23-25

Once again, another weekend is upon us! Though movie theaters are in full swing, if you are here looking for something to watch on Netflix this weekend, you’ve come to the right place! You may have already finished the Fear Street series or you may not be up to rewatch the Twilight saga (though everyone else is since those are the top 5 movies on Netflix this week) so we have you covered. We’ll give you 5 great Netflix movies and shows to watch this weekend, July 23-25.

This week was not as busy as the last few, but what it lacks in quantity, we hope to make up for in quality. There are several film options this week.

We will present you with a great family movie, a horror/mystery option, and a romance option on the movie side. If you’re looking for a good series to binge, we’ll offer you a new reality show that puts a spin on blind dating and an animated affair with an amazing voice cast.

Before we get into the great Netflix movies and shows that have been released this week, let’s look back at the great shows and movies from last week.

Never Have I Ever and Heist are both currently in Netflix’s top 5 shows on Netflix and there is plenty of buzz around both shows. As for the films, Gunpowder Milkshake and Fear Street Part Three: 1666 are both in the top ten movies. If you missed any of them they should definitely be on your list.

Best show on Netflix this week

This was a tough choice. Masters of the Universe has the voice talent of Mark Hamill (Star Wars) and Lena Heady (Game of Thrones) but Sexy Beasts is hard to ignore. Dating reality shows are already jam-packed with cringeworthy moments, but this show will push that to extremes.

Two people will try to get to know each other wearing goofy costumes and then if there is chemistry, they will reveal their true selves to one another. How awkward will it be when one person is attracted to the other but those feelings aren’t mutual? Get your popcorn ready!

Best movie on Netflix this week

With three great Netflix movies on the list this week, picking a favorite among them was difficult here as well. In the end, I am choosing the German thriller Blood Red Sky. Featuring Dominic Purcell (Prison Break), Blood Red Sky sounds like it will be a tense affair. A group of terrorists hijack a transatlantic flight but that is not where the fun lies. A passenger, who is mysteriously sick, has to unleash a “monstrous secret” to protect her son according to the movie description.

With 9 reviews already in for the movie, it has a fresh rating at 78% so far. I’m a sucker for a good thriller so this one will go on the list.
