Riverdale season 5‘s back half has been a doozy so far, and we’re only three episodes in. “Chapter Ninety: The Night Gallery” promises to be yet another packed episode off the heels of one that had tonal shifts that left the mind reeling.

To briefly recap the events of “Chapter Eighty-Nine: Reservoir Dogs,” we returned to our regular scheduled Riverdale shenanigans after a glimpse at Hiram Lodge’s past. Using that as a jumping off point, the show moved Reggie onto Team Veronica over at her flagging jewelry boutique.

The pair spent the episode getting people to buy into Pearls & Posh, a venture that’s about as lost in the sauce as Veronica’s Riverbucks plot early on in the season. Though this rather tame beat in the episode had nothing on Archie’s PTSD exploration with his uncle Frank and his friend, Eric.

The War took a toll on Archie and it’s so far played out with violent outbursts and a move to seek help. On the latter front, good for our redhead boy wonder. Elsewhere, Betty and Tabitha fashioned the Whyte Wyrm into a truckstop paying homage to Coyote Ugly in effort to honey trap the Lonely Highway Killer.

Betty managed to capture a killer, but we’re still waiting to see if she caught the killer which leads us to “Chapter Ninety: The Night Gallery,” an episode directed by Riverdale star Mädchen Amick.

What is Riverdale season 5, episode 14 about?

Episode 14 will pick up right where “Chapter Eighty-Nine: Reservoir Dogs” left off which means we’re in for quite the interrogation session between Betty and the trucker. Considering she’s no longer an FBI trainee and has no jurisdiction this is most assuredly a hostage situation that has the potential to turn into torture but this man has been killing people so dark!Betty rise, I guess.

As Betty works on her best madwoman impression, we’ll be reunited with Cheryl at the Blossom maple groves. Last episode she went on a personal mission to intervene Kevin’s cruising ways which resulted in him joining the Church of Jason Blossom.

Riverdale is now pivoting to an expansion on the plot of the palladium Hiram wants being under the maples, so Cheryl has asked Archie, Kevin, Fangs, and Reggie to help her dig it up. Given Reggie’s ties to Hiram, that’s probably not a good idea.

In any case, we’ll also be seeing the return of Jughead in “Chapter Ninety: The Night Gallery.” The episode will be exploring the seven years between graduating and the depressive funk he’s fallen into as an adult that’s landed him with a memory block. Perhaps we’ll even get some answers on what led to that angry message he left Betty.

Archie will also be sorting through his own trauma in episode 14. He’s still seeing the soldier he left behind in The War.
