Rumors circulated earlier in August 2021 sharing that Friends co-stars Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer were dating. Jennifer has finally responded to those rumors and, well, let’s just say it’s not what we wanted to hear.

When we learned that Jennifer and David were supposedly dating, we loved it! “He’s her lobster”memes took over the internet as the Friends fandom celebrated! We wanted these rumors to be real.

A rep from David Schwimmer’s team tried to shoot the rumor down, but fans were having none of it! The reports were real to us until Jennifer or David said otherwise. Unfortunately, that moment has come.

Jennifer Aniston is not dating David Schwimmer

In an exclusive interview with ET!, Jennifer laughed off the rumors about dating David, saying she could not believe people thought they were true, even calling the rumors “bizarre.” Jennifer told the source:

"“That’s my brother. But I understand it, though. It just shows you how hopeful people are for fantasies, for dreams to come true.”"

During the HBO Max reunion, the two co-stars shared that they both had major crushes on each other while filming the show, which, of course, only fueled these dreams and rumors of the two possibly dating at some point. Can you blame us?

Schwimmer said in the HBO Max special:

"“At some point, we were both crushing hard on each other, but it was like two ships passing, because one of us was always in a relationship. And we never crossed that boundary. We respected that.”"

What do you guys think? Would you have like to see Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer together? I know I would! But, at the very least, I love how the two truly are great friends.

The Friends reunion special picked up four Emmy nominations, which, in the same interview, Jennifer calls “a nice surprise.” We’ll see how many wins it takes home! The 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards premiere on Sunday, September 19, 2021, on CBS.

You can see Jennifer Aniston next when The Morning Show season 2 premieres on Friday, Sept. 17, 2021, only on Apple TV+
