The Queens premiere, “1999,” introduced viewers to the formidable women of the Nasty B**tches after they’d fallen out of the spotlight. The musical drama which has well placed beats of comedy is a fast-paced exploration of identity that bounces back and forth between the ’90s and the present to establish who this group were and who they are now.

While the pacing could have been better, it’s undeniable that the series has potential. Hopefully, now that the stage is set, the show will slow down and dig deep into the relationships between these women, their significant others, and their children.

“1999” had more than enough material for the show to focus on in its first season. Naomi is estranged from her daughter, Jojo, and the narrative is strongly hinting that the teen is E-Roc’s child. He’s unaware that she could be his.

Brianna’s marriage fell apart due to her husband’s infidelity that accompanied a weird scene where even his mistress (who also happens to be one of his college students) said she’s a queen who deserves more. On top of that the man has recently been diagnosed with cancer, and he and Brianna have five kids together. It’s a mess.

Jill came out which means her marriage is also ending. She has her girls and her girlfriend, Tina, by her side but whether or not her congregation will support her is a question episode 2 “Heart of Queens” is likely to answer.

As for Valeria, she’s out of a job as a morning talk show host, but being with the Queens means she finally has a family again. Now, she’d like to rekindle things with E-Roc to make this situation as perfect as it can be. There’s just one problem. He’s messing with Naomi, and he’s once again not speaking up about it to Valeria.

Queens is yikes, yikes, and more yikes in the best possible way with the inclusion of good music and a core of friendship that makes it a series to keep watching as we fall deeper in this group’s story. Here’s what to expect from episode 2!

What is Queens episode 2 “Heart of Queens” about?

Brianna told her husband that she was going to nurse him back to health and then leave him. However, that mic drop moment was essentially just words.

While that’s her intent that doesn’t mean it’s not going to be hard sticking to that sentiment especially when she factors her kids into this. Helping her husband through his health crisis is going to be emotionally taxing especially in the face of being reunited with the Queens and seeing a different path for herself.

Hopefully, Brianna is able to keep her mind on her ultimate goal which is to recapture the strength and power she cultivated as Professor Sex and reasserting who she is even as she helps her husband so she can eventually leave him. Elsewhere, Jill will be fighting her own battle with stepping into who she wants to be and the past holding her back.

Her coming out during the group’s BET performance was powerful but now she’ll have to deal with the media storm around it, her husband Darren’s feelings on their impending divorce, the possible loss of her faith community, and outside voices telling her how she should or shouldn’t embrace her newfound time in the spotlight.

Meanwhile, Naomi is set to struggle with putting herself first. Considering her estrangement from her daughter is because she’s put her quest for fame before everything else, where she could possibly be struggling to put herself first is a mystery to us.

Will she have the opportunity to finally be a successful solo artist? Or will there be a potential romance on the horizon for her that doesn’t involve E-Roc? We’ll have to watch and see, but we do know whatever Naomi is struggling with, Cam’ron is involved somehow.
