Worst movies of 2021: Halloween Kills

I promised my editor that I would never write about Halloween Kills again, and well, I lied. So I had to write about it one more time to get it off my chest about how it is one of the worst movies of the year.

Let me start by saying this. I remember seeing it in theaters at an advanced screening with a packed house of people and thinking, you know this was good, not great, but watchable and had some good things in it. I enjoyed the kills in the movie and the nostalgia factor, but I didn’t love the whole hospital scene. The acting was also terrible, from Tommy’s character as well as the others.

Well, I decided to give it another watch and honestly, it was FAR worse than I had remembered. I found myself cringing so many times that I almost turned it off. It wasn’t just the hospital scene that was terrible; it was the entire lead-up to that, from the parking lot outside the bar to the people wandering around town looking for a guy who is half the size of Michael Myers. Another thing my brother pointed out to me is that they have Myers’ mugshot from when he was arrested; how would they not know what he looked like? IT MAKES NO SENSE.

Worst movies of 2021: Sweet Girl

Is Jason Momoa a good actor? I don’t know, but I can say for sure that he is one beautiful man. Unfortunately, however, this movie was terrible. The script was awful, with a structure that made no sense at all. I am okay with flashbacks in films, but they are often flawed, and that’s precisely what happened here. The movie felt all over the place and never stopped and planted its feet.

Once you get to the final act, they have this twist that is actually kind of cool, but you are so checked out that you don’t even care. It’s a lackluster revenge movie with atrocious acting and feels like a four-hour movie.
