The Gilded Age cast: Who’s in the new HBO series?

The Gilded Age made its debut on HBO and HBO Max Monday, Jan. 24. The series, set in 1882, follows a young woman by the name of Marian Brook whose world is significantly altered after the death of her father. Rural Pennsylvania was her home but, due to his passing, she moves to live with her aunts, Agnes van Rhijn and Ada Brook.
They introduce her to a whole new world where money, power, and legacy is everything. Agnes and Ada are old money and are in the midst of a conflict with George and Bertha Russell. The married couple are incredibly rich but their family name has been established through the railroads.
As such Marian’s aunts see them as upstarts, ambitious social climbers whose place in the upper echelon’s of society has been bought and paid for not earned through history and pedigree. The clash between both families puts Marian in the middle of a confrontation she hardly understands but is expected to participate in and follow the rules of society that were established well before her time.
Marian’s friend, Peggy Scott, has also made the journey to New York. The aspiring writer sees the move as a fresh start and an opportunity for new doors to open for her.
