Paramount has announced that the Sonic universe is growing, and, just like our favorite blue hedgehog, it’s happening fast! Not only is a third movie already in development, but a live-action series about Knuckles is also in the works, starring Idris Elba.

Sonic 2 will be arriving on April 8, introducing Tails (voiced by Colleen O’Shaughnessey) and Knuckles (voiced by Idris Elba). Fans of the video games (and cartoon series) are ecstatic to see these characters come to life in the live-action movie. And as if there already wasn’t enough hype around the movie, there is now after news that Sonic 3 is already in development. Additionally, so is a live-action series where Idris Elba will return to voice Knuckles.

Sonic’s Knuckles is getting a live-action series on Paramount Plus

We don’t know much about the upcoming Paramount Plus original series yet, but we do know that it’ll be live-action, so we’ll be getting the same Knuckles we’ll meet in Sonic 2. Paramount also shared that it will premiere “next year.” Our guess is that it’ll drop early 2023.

Sonic 3 release date predictions

The first sequel isn’t even out, so we should not expect the third movie any time soon, but let’s guess! After all, we’re often right. We know that Sonic is “in development,” so these are the early stages. And there is almost always a year between two movies. That said, we won’t be seeing it until early to mid-2023. And so that it doesn’t collide with the untitled Knuckles project, my guess mid-2023 to late 2023.

When do you think the Knuckles series and third movie will be released? Of course, as soon as we learn more details, we’ll update this post with the latest.

Sonic 2 blasts into theaters on April 8, 2022, and should stream on Paramount Plus after its big-screen release is up. More to come.

7 movies to watch (and 3 to skip) in February 2022. dark. Next
