Max Thieriot is best known to SEAL Team fans as Clay Spencer. He’s been an important part of the team, but is that all going to change in SEAL Team Season 6?

Clay Spencer joined Bravo Team at the beginning of the entire series, quickly proving that he had a lot to offer but also that he still had a lot to learn. Over the last five seasons we’ve seen him grow considerably, but is that it for his character?

Thieriot is a rising star in the world of TV. According to Deadline, he has just landed a starring role in the CBS pilot Cal Fire, which will see him trading his military greens for a firefighter rig. Does that mean he’s done with SEAL Team? Has he decided to move on?

Will Max Thieriot still be in SEAL Team Season 6?

We know that SEAL Team Season 6 is happening. Paramount+ renewed the series shortly after the Season 5 finale. While most of the main cast have deals for the sixth season, Thieriot does not.

It turns out that Cal Fire is a passion project for him. He couldn’t turn down the chance to star in it. Right now, it’s just as a pilot. There is a chance the pilot won’t be picked up to series, and that would make this whole topic a moot point.

What if it does get picked up? Will Thieriot be able to do both?

If SEAL Team was still on CBS, we’d say no. It looks like there is a way to do both now that the series has moved to Paramount+. We have to remember that SEAL Team Season 6 is only going to have 10 episodes.

Could Clay be written out of SEAL Team?

However, Clay’s life was left hanging in the balance during the Season 5 finale. He’d already said that it would be his last mission with Bravo Team for a while. He wants to spend more time with Stella and newborn Brian, and that means a transfer back to Green Team.

Just as Bravo Team got back to Mali, the guys were amused and trapped. Clay was hit with shrapnel in the eye from the looks of the angle.

While everyone is seeing how things could work with two shows, the ending to season 5 has offered the perfect opportunity to write Clay out. We’ve seen characters killed in these ambushes, but we could also see Clay forced out of the military medically due to losing an eye.

Right now, the focus is on trying to find a way for Thieriot to do both projects.
