Part of The Boys universe on Prime Video, The Boys Presents: Diabolical is an 8-episode animated anthology series that set out to surprise audiences and show new sides to the world of The Boys.

At WonderCon 2022, showrunner Simon Racioppa and director Giancarlo Volpe spoke about the creative process behind the series and even teased what fans might expect if the series gets a second season.

Each of the 8 episodes features a different animation style and many have familiar faces and names that fans of The Boys will recognize. For example, Homelander (played by Antony Starr on The Boys) can be found in three of the episodes, and each episode brings him to life in a completely different style of animation.

But even though the universe is the same,

The Boys Presents: Diabolical

, is filled with unexpected twists, turns, and shocking surprises.

What to expect from (a potential) The Boys Presents: Diabolical season 2

When asked what he would like to see in a potential second season, Racioppa teased that he’d like to do something different and “completely brand new.” They also mentioned that because they were crunched for time, they don’t think that they’d do another season where each episode is a different style of animation — but this is The Boys universe, so never say never.

Racioppa went on to explain that “the promise of Diabolical is that it’s a grab bag of stuff you have not seen before, stuff we have not done before, stuff you’re not seeing on the main Boys show… So I would love to come back and surprise you with something that you’re not expecting.”

We’re hoping to learn more about a potential new season soon.
