Emily Osment becomes series regular for Young Sheldon season 6

Big news, Young Sheldon fans! Emily Osment, who plays Georgie’s baby mama Mandy, will star as a series regular in the show’s sixth season, TVLine reports.

This isn’t really surprising given Georgie’s storyline this season. The CBS series delivered quite the bombshell in its 100th episode. The eldest Cooper sibling is only 17 and is about to become a father. The Young Sheldon season 5 finale is set for May 19, which is coming up very soon. That’s not a lot of time to get through everything that comes with this storyline.

And, well, Georgie seems 100% committed. He’s ready to take on the responsibility, which is very refreshing for his character who’s previously been seen as the chill teenager who only really cares about himself. But. there’s more to him and it already shows. Since he and his family are committed to this baby, that means Mandy is going to be sticking around the Coopers.

Mandy’s storyline on Young Sheldon

We first met Mandy McAllister in season 5 episode 11, “A Lock-In, a Weather Girl and a Disgusting Habit.” 17-year-old Georgie pursues the 29-year-old who doesn’t know his true age. He comes clean about his age in the March 31 episode “A Solo Peanut, a Social Butterfly and the Truth,” but his lie has a major effect. Shortly after his reveal, Mandy has one of her own.

Last week’s Young Sheldon is when Georgie tells his parents, and the family has Mandy over for dinner. While of course shocked, George and Mary reacted much better than other parents would in their situation. That’s because they were in the same exact spot in high school which is how Georgie came into the world. Also, super religious Mary wants the expecting parents to get married. We’ll see if she gets her way.

Tomorrow’s episode will be interesting since the twins still don’t know they’re about to have a little niece or nephew. There’s still plenty of story to tell. Not only is Young Sheldon coming back for season 6, but it had already previously been renewed for season 7 as well.

Young Sheldon airs Thursdays on CBS. Catch the season 5 finale on May 19.
