The Flight Attendant season 2 episode 4 recap: Key moments

This week, HBO Max treated us once again to two new episodes of The Flight Attendant season 2. Here we take a look at what happened in episode 4, “Blue Sincerely Reunion.”

Episode 3 left off with Cassie finally tracking down Megan in Iceland. But her fugitive friend isn’t happy to see her because they are in danger. It’s time to find out what exactly has been happening with Megan.

The Flight Attendant season 2 episode 4 recap

Megan and the North Koreans

As we know from season 1, Megan is tangled up with the North Koreans. The reason she was shocked Cassie was in Iceland is because Cassie read her chain of emojis wrong. Megan didn’t want her to come to Iceland.

She needed Cassie to use the penguin key she sent her in episode 1 to go to the Queen’s strip club in Long Island where their friend Cherry works. There, Megan has stashed a lock box full of evidence against the North Koreans. She’s hoping to use it to make a deal with the American government so she can go home.

And, because the North Koreans are also trying to track down the elusive former flight attendant, she has a half a million dollar bounty on her head which puts her in danger. The man hunting her found her at the bar she’s working at and comes in every night.

She and Charlie (who Megan kind of has a fling with I think?), plan to take him out using a ground up poisonous mushroom in his cocktail. Or to say it the way Megan phrased it to Cassie, they’re going to K-I-L-L him. Spelling it out doesn’t make it better!

They’re almost successful until Cassie’s very loud phone starts to ring. The North Korean bounty hunter almost gets them, but Cassie had called in reinforcements. It’s a familiar face from season 1 – Miranda! She easily kills the bounty hunter. So great, another international murder for Cassie. Can this girl ever catch a break? Megan and Charlie have a sweet goodbye and it’s back to America for Megan who Cassie hides at her sponsor Brenda’s home.

Cassie and the CIA

Shane shows up at the bar where the North Korean bounty hunter is found dead. He shows his team a photo of Megan and tells them she’s most likely traveling with a blonde. They need to keep their eyes on the airports. Cassie and Megan do manage to make it home but when they do, Cassie sees some very troubling news.

Two bodies were recovered from the lake at Echo Park. They are wrapped in tarps and weighed down by chains (remember the items Cassie’s lookalike bought in episode 3?). This is going to make Cassie look very suspicious. She wants to go and tell the CIA everything because the situation is getting out of hand.

She doesn’t find the CIA director, but she does find a tipsy Benjamin in his office. He tells her the murders were two CIA analysts, but he doesn’t know why they were at the park.

Cassie is tired and who can blame the poor girl? The party girl version of herself in her Mind World tells her she’s been wanting to blow up her fake happy life for days, so why not do something irresponsible? So…Cassie does. And, that’s sleeping with her handler. Yikes! Yet again I say, poor Marco. That’s the cliffhanger we’re left with!

Max and Annie are ok

We left off in episode 3 with Max and Annie knocked out. But they’re ok! It turns out the crazy couple, Esteban and Gabrielle, are bounty hunters and they’re looking for Megan. That’s why they’ve been tracking down Cassie.

While they’re tied up Annie apologizes to Max and tells him she’s bad at feelings and she’s not ok with everything happening in her life – work, possibly moving to L.A., the future, and all the bad things she’s done like lying, fraud, and working for the mob.

When the psycho couple find that Cassie is in Iceland, they leave Max and Annie. Remember the engagement ring Annie took off? It turns out they took her ring which she’s very upset by. Max and Annie go into the house where Esteban and Gabrielle were staying in to try and find her ring but come across that poor old couple who are the actual homeowners and set them free.

Things to keep an eye on

Cassie tells Cecelia (Miranda’s employee) that she looks familiar and asks if they’d met. Cecelia says no in a suspicious way. Hmm…

Cassie talks to Brenda about her struggles with sobriety. We continue to see her slowly spiraling.

And, yet again, talks of Jenny’s podcast popped up.
