The Flight Attendant season 2 episode 7 recap: Key moments
I don’t know how this season flew by so quickly, but we’ve already reached the penultimate episode of The Flight Attendant season 2!
“No Exit” moved a little bit slower and was a bit shorter in terms of episode running time, but it was no less important and was packed with a lot of details. We needed a bit of a break thanks to the emotional rollercoasters episode 5 and episode 6 took us on!
Last week’s installment ended on a cliffhanger with the blonde impersonator killing Officer Jones at the boat dock, where we see a boat number that matches the one on the View Finder. This View Finder comes in handy in this episode.
After many scenes with Shane and Cassie acting opposite each other over the phone, we get an episode dedicated to the two working together, and their dynamic is just so fun!
This recap is officially ready for take off. Here are the key moments from season 2 episode 7.
The Flight Attendant season 2 episode 7 recap
Shane is the ultimate BFF
Fellow flight attendant and CIA agent Shane Evans has really turned out to be one of the best friends Cassie can have. Of course Annie and Max take the number one spot. But Shane is definitely a true friend.
He did some digging and he discovered everyone who has died so far by the blonde impersonator had contact with Will, the man who died in the Berlin explosion back in the season’s first episode. The two friends reach the dock and find the boat that matches the number on the View Finder. There, Officer Jones and two others are dead. Cassie’s missing red glove is planted at the scene. And though Shane tells her to put it back, she takes it without him looking.
Teamwork
Back at Cassie’s house, she and Shane fill in Max and Annie on what they found. The couple questions why Shane is there and in a funny moment, even though Cassie isn’t supposed to, she reveals Shane is a CIA agent. Sorry, Shane. But she can’t hide this from her friends!
Thanks to Shane’s very smart mind, he figures something out. Every person who has died so far has been associated with Will. And every photo on the View Finder marks the location where those people have been killed. There’s now only one slide left. And if the impersonator wants to frame Cassie successfully, that means she needs to kill the flight attendant. Meaning the last murder location is dedicated to Cassie. And that’s Santa Monica Pier. Max points out the operation would have to be today because then the park will close for a month for refurbishing. They also find the bloody knife the impersonator planted in Cassie’s house in last week’s episode.
Grace is the impersonator
Though we thought Grace was ruled out of being the impersonator in episode 2, it turns out it was her all along! But our mystery hasn’t been completely solved. On the contrary, now we have even more questions. Cassie and Shane go to the pier to look for the double. Cassie finds her on her own and starts to follow her.
Earlier in the episode, Cassie was trying to get a hold of the head of the CIA, Dot, to tell her what they discovered. She gives her a call back and thanks Cassie for the evidence she reported and they’re putting together a task force to investigate the murders. When Cassie tells her she’s at the pier, Dot tells her it’s not safe and she should leave, she’s on her way, and if she encounters Benjamin she shouldn’t talk to him. I don’t know. Dot still seems a bit sus to me.
Of course at that moment Benjamin pops up in front of Cassie and to run away from him she gets on the ferris wheel. From the ride, Cassie can see Shane confronting Benjamin and it looks like the handler knocks Shane out.
Grace finds Cassie and they get back on the ferris wheel. She doesn’t seem stable and both us and Cassie questions what’s really going on. Though Grace is the impersonator and killed those people, she has no idea who Benjamin is and doesn’t know anything about the View Finder. Grace kept saying what’s happening is bigger than she and Cassie and she never had a choice for what she did. Cassie asks her who is making her do all this, but we don’t get that answer. Grace feels like she has no way out and shoots herself. And we end on that shocking cliffhanger.
Cassie’s thoughts of suicide
We got a little bit of it in episode 6, but the season’s seventh episode really brings us more into Cassie’s mind through the Mind World. At multiple times her other self tells her it would be better if she was dead. At one point she says ““stop asking questions and go to the pier. It’s like a suicide run, maybe we’ll all get lucky and you’ll get yourself killed.”
Even her mom appears in her Mind World and says how she’s powerless, but to be patient with her, others, and herself.
We only have on episode left. I don’t know if we’re going to see Cassie tackle this mental health issue, especially since she doesn’t have a complete handle on her sobriety yet. But that might be something a possible season 3 explores.
Other key moments
The Diaz’s tracked Annie and Max down and in a badass plan, Max is the bait as Annie comes up behind the couple and tases them with the taser she stole from their house. My favorite line: “Max, I’m so sorry. I’ll never make you the damsel in distress ever again.” Also, Annie finally gets her engagement ring back and puts it on, which means she’s finally accepted that they’re engaged!
The North Koreans find Megan, but she knocks the guy out and stuffs him in her trunk. Of course she calls Cassie for help, but the girl is a little occupied with her own problems. And it doesn’t seem like Shane is ready to help Megan either.
Davey sends Cassie some cryptic messages saying he needs her to call him back because he’s confused about something. And also, podcast Jenny pops up yet again.
The Flight Attendant season 2 finale will be released next week on HBO Max.
