The Departed and the 10 best movies of all time
By Ricky Valero
Avengers: Endgame
Oh, look, it’s a film from a recent time that I promised wouldn’t be on here to kick off my list of the best movies of all time. Yes, Avengers: Endgame is from 2019, but it was also the culmination of 21 other films that spanned over 20+ years.
As I mentioned, starting in 2008, Phase One of a Marvel Cinematic Universe that no one saw blowing up to be the most successful run of films of all time. We were introduced to Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man and the rest has been history.
Avengers: Endgame followed the direct events of Avengers: Infinity War, which left the entire world in a massive panic. With a wide range of uncertainty, the Avengers that were left had to help take down Thanos and reverse what he did to save the universe.
I’ll be the first to admit that this probably isn’t the best Marvel movie, nor is it the second-best Marvel movie. But, still, the theater experience, the history that was built, nothing has ever nor possibly will ever reach the feeling of what it was like entering the theater to watch this movie. You sat in a theater with so many others who had been down this long journey with you and were ready to see who would live, who would die, and what would happen to MCU as we knew it.
The emotional roller coaster that the Russo brothers put us through in this film was incredible. From the passing of some of our favorite Avengers to the opening of that portal, this movie will always have a special place in my heart.
