Star Wars Celebration has come and gone and it’s left its mark with exciting new adventures coming our way. Through all of the interviews and cheers from fans, it was revealed Disney+ will introduce not one, but two new animated series. Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi will be released prior to Young Jedi Adventures and it will revisit two characters “from the prequel era.”

Tales of the Jedi will be a six-part series, but these will be little snippets compared to regular programming since it’s being listed as an “animated short series.” Regardless of length for each episode, it’s safe to say fans will fully embrace a brand-new series where one of the two-character focuses will be with Ahsoka Tano.

Tano and Count Dooku will lead the storyline for Tales of the Jedi, which will highlight earlier years of both characters. Filoni in an interview spoke about Dooku’s previous allegiances as he said, “He was a Jedi. He was one of them.” The exploration of two characters with two different paths follow a trend in Star Wars’ lore, much like Obi-Wan and Anakin.

Does Tales of the Jedi have a release date?

Although there isn’t a specific release date scheduled yet, Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi is “set to premiere this fall on Disney+.” On top of seeing Tano and Dooku, Filoni highlighted the return of another character who was also present in the prequel era. In this series, this character will be but a Padawan.

Qui-Gon Jinn will return to the animated screen and Liam Neeson will return to voice the character. In one of Filoni’s panels at Star Wars Celebration, he discussed the “passion project” and it’s clear his ability to tell amazing stories is something everyone wants to see more of. He said, “They found the resources and the people and it was a great chance to reconnect with the animation team again.”

Tales of the Jedi will release this fall on Disney+ and we’ll surely see Filoni’s passion shine through all of the characters he brings back to the animated screen.
