Is Max Thieriot leaving SEAL Team for Fire Country?

FIRE COUNTRY stars Max Thieriot (SEAL TEAM) as Bode Donovan, a young convict seeking redemption and a shortened prison sentence by joining an unconventional prison release firefighting program in Northern California, where he and other inmates are partnered with elite firefighters to extinguish massive, unpredictable wildfires across the region. It’s a high-risk, high-reward assignment, and the heat is turned up when Bode is assigned to the program in his rural hometown, where he was once a golden all-American son until his troubles began. Now that Fire Country has been picked up to series, SEAL Team fans are questioning whether Max Thieriot is leaving for his new show.

When actors land lead roles in other shows, we always wonder what it means for their current roles. Most of the time, it means an actor is leaving a series. Jensen Ackles left Smallville for Supernatural and more recently we saw Morris Chestnut leave The Resident as a series regular for Our Kind of People.

SEAL Team fans will be worried about something happening to Clay Spencer. Max Thieriot landed the lead in Fire Country, originally called Cal Fire. It has been picked up to series, and now fans are desperate to know whether Clay is leaving Bravo Team or not.

Max Thieriot is not leaving SEAL Team for Fire Country

There is some good news for SEAL Team fans. It could be great news for Max Thieriot too since it means he remains successfully employed. He is not leaving SEAL Team for Fire Country. Instead, the plan is for him to pull double duty.

The two shows have worked their production schedules to ensure Thieriot is available for both shows. SEAL Team Season 6 started filming back in May 2022. We won’t see filming for Fire Country start until sometime in July, which gives SEAL Team time to get through most of the episodes.

Production for SEAL Team could be switched around to allow for Thieriot to be around for the entire season without messing up his Fire Country schedule. This happens a lot in TV shows to allow for filming schedules, with Outlander being the most notable for Season 6 to make sure Caitriona Balfe would film all her scenes before her baby bump started showing in.

It is worth noting that Thieriot’s contract is only for one year, according to Deadline. This could mean Clay is written out during the sixth season, allowing Thieriot to focus only on Fire Country. That would probably depend on how well the new series performs in the ratings.
