What is family comedy Best Foot Forward on Apple TV+ about?

Apple TV+ is certainly delivering this summer when it comes to their kids and family shows and movies! The catalog for the warmer months includes upcoming new series Amber Brown, computer-animated film Luck, and new family comedy Best Foot Forward.

The new series premieres on the streaming service on Friday, July 22 with all 10, half hour episodes. It stars young actor Logan Marmino who plays 12-year-old Josh Dubin. The show is based on the book Just Don’t Fall by real-life paralympic athlete, author, motivational speaker, and comedian Josh Sundquist.

Sundquist also serves as an executive producer on the series alongside Joel S. Rice and Meghan Mathes Jacobs. Best Foot Forward was developed by Matt Fleckenstein, who is behind Nickelodeon shows iCarly and Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn. Victor Nelli Jr. directed the first four episodes.

So what can we expect to see in the new family comedy?

What is Best Foot Forward on Apple TV+ about?

Best Foot Forward follows Josh Dubin (Marmino) as he transitions from homeschool to public school. The little boy is eager to experience everything middle school has to offer. But along the way he faces new challenges, including trying to get his fellow middle schoolers to look past his prosthetic leg.

As Josh says in the trailer, he wants to find true friends not ones who talk to him out of pity. Luckily, this youngster has the support of his parents and best friends Kyle and Gabriella. And thanks to them, Josh “learns, laughs, and grows, eager to come back everyday for more,” according to an Apple TV+ press release.

The official trailer also gives us an idea of what’s to come. We see the confident young boy as he makes friends quickly, doesn’t let his prosthetic leg get in the way of him being a soccer star, and he’s staying busy with multiple extracurriculars like chess, robotics, and even DJ clubs.

Though we do get glimpses of him getting bullied as well, the series seems to have a lighter tone. I’m sure Josh will overcome it all with his big personality and the wonderful support system he has!

Best Foot Forward premieres Friday, July 22 with all 10 episodes on Apple TV+.
