If you’re looking to find out more about the release of the sci-fi romantic comedy Meet Cute, you’ve come to the right place. The film stars Kaley Cuoco (The Flight Attendant) and Pete Davidson (Bodies, Bodies, Bodies) who play the lead characters, Sheila and Gary respectively.

According to Rotten Tomatoes, the movie “follows the story of Sheila and Gary. When they meet, it’s love at first sight — until we realize their magical date wasn’t fate at all. Sheila’s got a time machine, and they’ve been falling in love over and over again. But when the perfect night is never quite enough, Sheila travels to Gary’s past to change him into the perfect man.”

While it does have fantasy elements that may draw younger viewers in, there may be some thematic elements in the film that aren’t so appropriate for young kids to be viewing and prove that this is still structured as another adult rom-com. Some elements could include sensuality, crude language, and/or other forms of NSFW dialogue.

Still, it’s up to you to make that decision. So let’s find out why the Peacock film Meet Cute is rated TV-MA.

Why is Meet Cute rated TV-MA?

The MPAA gave its TV-MA rating to Meet Cute which means that the film is for “Mature Audience Only”. The show is intended for adults, and is likely unsuitable for children under the age of 17. There may be bad language, explicit sexual activity and/or graphic violence.

According to Common Sense, the film’s TV-MA rating stacks up as it’s been described as a “romantic dramedy with some dark undertones involving trauma and suicidal thoughts. There’s also language and drinking”. While there isn’t any graphic violence happening in the movie, it’s still good to know what to expect stepping into your movie-watching experience.

It’s definitely a darker comedy as well which is similar to some other Peacock programming. With the inclusion of suicidal ideation being present in the film and Davidson and Cuoco being paired up to utilize their television comedy backgrounds, you’re bound to hear some off-color jokes throughout the course of the film. That being said, it’s a relatively simple watch given the premise. Overall, it’s quite easy to determine that this movie is geared towards young-adults as well as older millennials who might be dealing with similar romantic expectations as the lead characters in the film. Bring this film out when you’re looking for an after-date night watch or even just as soon you tuck your young ones into bed.
