Matt LeBlanc announces another break from acting, says he won’t co-star with Friends cast again
While it’s been great seeing the cast of Friends go on to pursue bigger careers for themselves after the show wrapped in 2004, fans can’t deny how great it was to see them all come together again for the reunion special back in 2021. Actors like Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox are always booked and busy, but seeing someone like Matt LeBlanc or Matthew Perry back on the screen was truly special. When’s the next reunion, guys?!
Matt LeBlanc in particular has had a complicated relationship with the spotlight, as after Friends and his spin-off Joey concluded, he took a break from acting. He didn’t return to the small screen until he booked a starring role in the Showtime series, Episodes. And now that his show Man With a Plan ended in 2020, it looks like the 55-year-old star will take a step back from acting yet again.
During an interview with Entertainment Tonight at the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles Gala this past weekend, LeBlanc was asked whether or not he might be interested in guest-starring in any of his former Friends co-stars’ current shows. For instance, Aniston stars in The Morning Show on Apple TV+, and Cox has her Starz show, Shining Vale. David Schwimmer will soon appear in the Apple TV+ show Extrapolations, while Lisa Kudrow lends her voice to the animated series HouseBroken.
Friends star Matt LeBlanc says he’s taking another break from acting
But LeBlanc has no plans to join the Friends cast in any projects, nor does he want to continue acting at all at this point.
“I’m taking some time off right now,” LeBlanc said when asked if he’d co-star with his
Friends
family again. “I’m just enjoying not having to do anything — it’s been kinda nice. Sorry, I’ll let you know when I do.” The actor went on to discuss the importance of the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and why he got involved.
LeBlanc did not share more on why he’s taking time off, but the last time he did this, the reason was pretty sad. He opened up in the past about feeling “burnt out” from the spotlight, noting he “barely left the house” after playing Joey Tribbiani for so many years.
We’re hoping this time away from the camera will be a good thing for Matt LeBlanc, and as always we’re sending well wishes his way.
