The Oct. 13 episode of Young Sheldon season 6 brought Mandy, played by actress Emily Osment, more and more into the Coopers’ lives. Elsewhere, Mary takes up an interesting hobby that introduces us to a handsome fellow.

In “Passion’s Harvest and a Sheldocracy,” Mandy finds herself unable to afford rent anymore. She moves in with Georgie in the garage at the beginning of the episode. But then they find a better solution, her taking up residence in Meemaw’s guest room. Also in the episode, Sheldon’s school assignment by Dr. Sturgis leaves him having to choose a side in an ethical dilemma.

When Meemaw introduces Mary to her romance novel, of course she’s reluctant at first. Then Mary gets hooked on it, but believes she can write a better book. That’s when she tries her hand at writing her own romantic story. We see flashes of “passages” from her writing played out, with her main beau being a fictional man named Dusty.

So who is the actor who plays the character?

Who plays Dusty on Young Sheldon?

Michael Trucco guest starred on the season’s third episode, taking on the role of Dusty on Young Sheldon. The actor started appearing on TV in the late ’90s. He’s appeared in episodes of Beverly Hills, 90210Sabrina The Teenage Witch, One Tree Hill, among others over the years.

In 2005, he played Samuel Anders in Battlestar Galactica. His role was a recurring character in seasons 2 and 3, and then upped to series regular in the show’s fourth and final season. He also portrayed Nick Podarutti on How I Met Your Mother. His most recent work includes a main role in Netflix’s Midnight Mass and CBS’ Fire Country.

For eagle-eyed The Big Bang Theory fans, the actor might look familiar. But you really need to think back to remember who he is. Trucco appeared in season 2 episode 11 of Young Sheldon‘s parent series. He played Dr. David Underhill, a young and handsome Macarthur Grant recipient and successful experimental physicist. Penny starts dating him, but later finds out he’s married. He also took naked pictures of her before the breakup. A definite douche.

Young Sheldon airs new episodes Thursdays on CBS.
