Welcome to Chippendales release date, trailer, cast, and more

We all love those real-life shows and movies that get adapted into an entertainment medium, and now Hulu is bringing us another this November! Welcome to Chippendales is the next true-crime series to add to your watch list.

The new show was created by Robert Siegel and Jenni Konner, who also both executive produce. Joining them as EPs on the project are Dylan Sellers, Matt Shakman, Emily V. Gordon, Nora Silver and writer Rajiv Joseph.

Mehar Sethi also served as a writer, with Jacqui Rivera a co-executive producer and Annie Wyman a co-producer. The actor taking the lead, Kumail Nanjiani, also took on executive producing duties.

Welcome to Chippendales release date

The upcoming eight-episode Hulu series premieres Tuesday, Nov. 22. The first two installments will be released, followed by one new episode weekly. The finale of the miniseries is set for Jan. 3, 2023.

Welcome to Chippendales synopsis

According to Hulu, the “sprawling true-crime saga” will tell the “outrageous story” of Somen “Steve” Banerjee. The Indian immigrant becomes the unlikely founder of the world’s greatest male-stripping empire, Chippendales, and we’ll see that he won’t let anything stand in his way.

The show is based on the real-life worldwide touring dance troupe, best known for its male striptease performances. The group was established in 1979 and became the first all-male stripping crew to make a business out of the performances for a mostly female audience.

But that’s not all the real-life story or Hulu show are about. In 1993, Banerjee was arrested and charged with plotting to kill three of his former business associates, including his “rival,” Nick De Noia. The morning he was to be sentenced, Banerjee was found dead in his cell having hanged himself.
