We’ve celebrated The Resident‘s 100th episode and saw Bell and Kit finally get married. There are still more episodes to come, but just how many in The Resident Season 6?

Episode counts are slowly reducing. TV shows are more expensive to make than ever before, but the number of people watching live is reducing. This means not as many people are watching the commercials that help to pay for the TV shows.

So, budgets need to be reduced. That means episode counts are shortened. If you looked at the FOX January 2023 schedule, you will have noticed that The Resident Season 6 returns but only for a few weeks before 911 Lone Star takes over the timeslot. Does that mean the episode count is shortened or is the show coming back later?

The Resident Season 6 episode count

It turns out that the episode count has been shortened. The Resident creator, Amy Holden Jones, took to Twitter to answer a fan question about the season. There will only be 13 episodes to the season.

Holden Jones explains that this is becoming common for TV shows. We have seen The CW opt for shorter episode orders. The Winchesters and Walker Independence haven’t landed full-season orders despite performing well for the network, and The CW has made it clear that this is a plan for the profitability of the network. It’s got nothing to do with the lack of success the two shows are seeing in terms of The CW ratings.

It looks like the medical drama is going to wrap its season in early January. The timeslot is then going to the first responder drama. The move to Tuesdays for 911 Lone Star has certainly shocked fans, but it makes sense with changes to episode counts.
