As episode’s go, today’s latest for The Bold and the Beautiful wasn’t the most thrilling to put it kindly. But it did inch us closer to the dissolution of Brooke and Ridge’s marriage. The Co-CEO served his wife with annulment papers and had his best friend, Carter, do the job.

While Carter isn’t a stranger to being put in the middle of the Forresters’ messy affairs, it’s never fun being the messenger for these kind of house calls and he felt bad for Brooke in her moment of sadness. Surprisingly, so did Steffy and Thomas who expressed that they don’t want to see Brooke hurt even though they’ve been waiting for this moment for some time.

Here’s what happened on our soap today.

The Bold and the Beautiful recap (Nov. 9)

Ridge started the episode off by congratulating his son on a successful preview. He’s been beaming over Thomas’ achievement since the fashion show and will tell anyone who’ll listen about how proud he is as a father. But, even with Ridge’s jovial mood, Thomas picked up on the sadness that’s lurking behind his dad’s smile. Caught out, Ridge opened up to his son about sending Brooke annulment papers.

This didn’t come as a surprise to her considering he had told her that he intended to file, but nonetheless Brooke was hurt. While Carter was at her residence fulfilling his duty as Ridge’s lawyer, she asked him if Ridge had asked him to tell her anything, but he didn’t. The papers rocked Brooke’s resolve and she cried as she looked over them once Carter left.

Aware of Brooke’s heartache, Carter paid her sister, Katie, a visit at Forrester Creations. At first, Katie thought he was there to flirt with her and continue stoking the spark that’s ignited between the two of them, but then she noticed Carter was upset.

He explained that he’d been to see Brooke at Ridge’s request in order to serve her papers. Shocked, Katie was moved to tears herself as she tried to process the pending end of her sister’s marriage to a man that the Logans and Eric believe to be Brooke’s soulmate. She can’t understand how it got to this point and both she and Carter acknowledged that the love between Bridge isn’t dead so this is a puzzling turn of events.

Across the hall, after Steffy was brought up to speed, Ridge discussed how he feels about ending things with Brooke. They soothed him the best they could, reminding him that he’s making this choice because his relationship with Brooke isn’t good for him and that he’s chosen happiness with their mother.

Steffy and Thomas were tactful even though it was clear that they’re overjoyed by the steps their father is taking to ensure he can have a life with Taylor. Thomas, however, showed more compassion than his sister and that’s definitely due to his guilt over how this all became possible in the first place.

He even apologized to Ridge which confused his father and Steffy before he was able to excuse it by saying he’s sorry his dad is hurting like this. All of Thomas’ loved ones are unaware that he’s the one who placed the call to CPS not Brooke, and he’s hoping to keep it that way, but it’s doubtful that’s going to happen since Brooke keeps asking questions.

She did so again when Ridge stopped by Logan Manor to check-in on his soon to be ex-wife. At the beginning of their conversation, she was understandably angry. The man did just serve her papers showcasing that he not only wants to end their marriage but that he also wants to wipe it from the record as if it never happened.

But it didn’t take Brooke long to thaw and ask Ridge why he’s doing this. He didn’t give her an answer, but that’s likely not going to last forever. She said that she’s not giving up on them and, while it’s possible those papers will get signed before the truth comes out, Brooke has never been one to back down from a challenge when it comes to what she wants.

How long will Thomas be able to keep what he did a secret? Well, the holidays are fast approaching. Usually that’s a time for cheer, family, and goodwill but perhaps this time it’ll be reserved for explosive reveals.

Until next time, Bold fans. Stay beautiful!
