December 2 weekend movies: Every new movie in theaters and streaming this weekend

We have entered the last month of the year, so it’s time to get in the holiday spirit. Below, we share the best new weekend movies to watch in theaters and available on streaming services that you won’t want to miss.

With the Christmas season here, we know that over the month, we will get plenty of Christmas movies to choose from. Even last month, we saw streaming platforms kick us off towards the end of the month with movies like A Christmas Story Christmas, The Noel Diary, and Spirited.

The week’s biggest release comes from a blend of Santa Claus and John Wick with Violent Night. The film follows Santa Claus (David Harbour), who chases down a group of villains who attack a family and must take them out to save the day. Does the movie sound like Nobody from last year but in the Christmas spirit? Yes, does that make a difference to me? Absolutely not. Toss in that David Harbour looks like a badass Santa in the trailers, and you will see me seated front and center to check this one out.

Over on Netflix, we have a pair of movies that are polar opposites, but I can’t wait to check out both. First, we have Lady Chatterley’s Love which is a story of a woman (Emma Corrin) who is in an unhappy marriage and begins to have an affair with one of the people on the estate. Then, we have a brand new documentary produced by Robert Downey Jr. in Sr., which tells the story of his historical father’s time in the film industry. Both films have gotten rave reviews early on, with the latter possibly vying for an Academy Award nomination.
