I’m sure the upcoming Grease spin-off, Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies, is going to be electrifying! The production will make its debut sometime in early 2023. Is it going to be a movie or a show though?

The Pink Ladies in the original film are iconic. But apparently, they weren’t the first group of lovely women to don those pink jackets. The new prequel will explore the origins of the group, taking place four years before the story in the 1978 movie starring John Travolta and the late Olivia Newton-John.

The cast includes Marisa Davila as Jane, Cheyenne Isabel Wells as Olivia, Ari Notartomaso as Cynthia, Tricia Fukuhara as Nancy, Shanel Bailey as Hazel, Madison Thompson as Susan, Johnathan Nieves as Richie, Jason Schmidt as Buddy, Maxwell Whittington-Cooper as Wally, and Jackie Hoffman as Asst. Principal McGee.

So how much time are we spending at Rydell High? Is it going to be in one sitting with a movie, or a show? We’ve got the answer for you below!

Is Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies a film or series?

Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies will be a 10-episode series, coming to Paramount+ Thursday, April 6, 2023! One episode will debut on premiere day. New installments will be released weekly Thursdays on the streaming service, the streamer shares.

Of course it wouldn’t be Grease without music and dancing. You can expect to see both in the upcoming series. The show tapped executive music producer Justin Tranter to create original songs for the project, with choreographer Jamal Sims teaching everyone the steps.
