Lifetime kicked off their January slate with Catfish Killer, a thriller centered on a young woman’s dangerous connection to a boy she met online. Viewers can anticipate another cautionary tale about falling for the wrong person with My Sister’s Serial Killer Boyfriend. As you can see, the title of the movie puts the plot front and center, but here’s the full rundown of what to expect from the film.

The story follows two sisters, Maddie and Olivia. The oldest, Maddie, is a local reporter who’s been investigating a series of murders. The victims were all women who looked similarly to one another. Maddie’s put on high alert when her sister, Olivia is attacked in her own home.

Deciding that they need to be prepared in case something like that happens again, Maddie enrolls them both in a self-defense class. During their lessons, Olivia begins to fall for their instructor, but her sister is suspicious of the man. He’s withholding details about his life and that’s a giant red flag to Maddie. She sets her mind on intervening before the attraction between the two slides into obsession.
