Some people can truly do extraordinary things, especially when it’s so physically taxing on a reality competition series. We’re going to see some of those strong-willed contestants on HBO Max’s new show, The Climb.

Aquaman actor Jason Momoa has a passion for rock climbing. And so, he decided to bring that passion to a competition series, which he is leading behind the scenes. He co-created the production with legendary rock climber Chris Sharma.

Also working offscreen are executive producers Eli Holzman, Aaron Saidman, Erin Gamble, Matt Shanfield, Brian Mendoza, James Mendoza, and Jonathan Retseck. The co-showrunners take on EP duties as well.

So what day do you need to mark on you calendars for the premiere? How much time do you need to set aside to watch the show?  We’ve got the answer for you below!

How many episodes are in The Climb on HBO Max?

The Climb is set to premiere Thursday, Jan. 12, 2023 on HBO Max. The rock climbing competition series will have a total of eight episodes. But not all of them will be released at one time! You’ll have to wait between some weekly releases.

On premiere day, the first three episodes will be released on the streamer. They will be followed by another three installments on Jan. 19. The final two episodes will drop Jan. 26 on the streaming platform.

The show will have competitors making their way up some of the hardest ascents in the world, according to the HBO Max synopsis. The adventurous series will make its contestants go through mental and physical challenges for the chance to win the cash prize of $100,000. The one who makes it to the top will also receive a prAna sponsored climbing ambassadorship.

The Climb premieres Thursday, Jan. 12 with the first three episodes on HBO Max.
