Do Bode and Gabriela get together in Fire Country?
By Sabrina Reed
Since Fire Country‘s pilot, there’s been a question of whether Bode and Gabriela would get together. Gabriela began the series declaring her love for her boyfriend Jake and being crushed when he didn’t return the sentiment right away. But it was obvious from her first scene with Bode that she had a spark with someone who wasn’t her significant other.
The more Gabriela and Bode talked, the closer they became, and the less comfortable and sure Jake was in his relationship. Things came to a head when Bode, trapped in a car, fell off a bridge and Gabriela jumped after him. Yes, the move saved his life, but it was also a reckless and dangerous decision made by a woman who always thinks before she acts.
After being pushed to not choose the safe option, Gabriela broke up with Jake. However, she told him that she didn’t want to have feelings for Bode and that she wouldn’t be hopping into a relationship him. Did that stick or has the situation progressed? Here’s what we know about Bode and Gabriela’s romantic storyline!
Do Bode and Gabriela get together in Fire Country?
After the episode, “Mama Bear,” the two were on the outs. Bode broke a promise to Gabriela to not endanger his standing at Three Rock by going after the man who threatened his mother. Her disappointment bled into the following episode, “Two Pink Lines,” but it didn’t remain by the end.
Bode’s best friend, Freddie, urged the pair to talk and hash things out. He kept putting in a good word with Gabriela on Bode’s behalf and being an excellent emotional wingman. Gradually, Gabriela began to forgive her friend. She also told him that if he wants to change, he has to do it for himself. Not for anyone else.
After hearing Bode’s speech to Freddie that stopped him from going AWOL to go see his daughter, Gabriela softened entirely. And, after Freddie pointed out that Bode made the mature decision to leave a house owner behind when it was no longer possible to save him, she thought about Bode’s growth.
Before the end of “Two Pink Lines,” Gabriela and Bode had a clandestine meeting where they apologized to one another. In that scene, the two gave into their feelings and kissed twice. But Gabriela broke it off, citing the need for them to work on growing as people before they can get in a relationship with one another.
She wants to give it a year. By that time Bode will be out of jail and they can have a real romance. But for now they’re still going to pine for one another with the promise of a future together hanging heavy in the air. So, in a way, they’re courting even if they can’t officially be in a relationship. Still, the connection they do have could threaten Bode’s position at the camp.
